Christine Linda Goodall - RN May 2012
Christine was diagnosed with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's disease in May of 2008. ALS is a disease of the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement. The diseased nerve cells (neurons) waste away or die and can no longer send messages to muscles.
This eventually leads to muscle weakening, twitching, and an inability to move the arms, legs, body and in time - death. The condition slowly gets worse over time until it becomes hard or impossible to breath and death occurs.
The average life span is 3 to five years from date of diagnosis and of today there is no known treatment to ALS. :(
